    Former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan will not even be able to contest the elections


    The Election Commission declared former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid Khan ineligible for the party presidency for life. According to media reports, the Election Commission has decided the party presidency of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Gilgit-Baltistan. Baltistan will not even be able to contest the elections.

    It is being told that the Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan has disqualified Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan in the fake degree case. Issued a decision on, People's Party member Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Ghulam Shahzad Agha challenged Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan's law degree and demanded his disqualification under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan, for which the petitioner Amjad Hussain, through his lawyer, maintained that the degree submitted by the Chief Minister. 


    Initially, the case was being heard by Justice Malik Inayat-ur-Rehman and Justice Johar, however, on the request of the Chief Minister to form a larger bench in view of the importance of the case, Chief Justice Ali Baig added another judge to the bench. On May 29, Chief Justice Ali Baig constituted a larger bench comprising Justice Malik Inayat-ur-Rehman, Justice Johar Ali and Justice Muhammad Mushtaq, which was directed to conduct hearings on a daily basis and dispose of the case within 14 days. , the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court has given Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan time till June 13 to file a reply to a plea seeking his disqualification for submitting a fake degree.

    The court had issued notices to HEC, Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council and Election Commission and ordered them to submit their reply. The HEC had told the court that it had withdrawn the LLB degree issued to Khalid Khurshid after the University of London declared the chief minister's degree fake.
